A Letter from PRob

Yesterday was a strange day for me. It seemed heavy, difficult. All afternoon I struggled within myself. Then this morning as I was going to meet with my brother I stopped by the church only to hear a very strange noise.

It was the sound of rushing water.

This is NEVER a sound you want to hear in an empty building and so upon my search I found a flooded basement from an exterior faucet left on flooding through the office windows.
For a second I thought all the negative you could, but then came peace.

My morning devotion discussed the renewing of my mind in Romans 12 and how I need to seek ways to renew my mind to focus my thoughts on Gods truth, not my trial.

And here was His answer to me.

So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19

As the enemy was trying to get a hold of my thoughts through a literal flood, the Lord flooded my mind with peace.
The enemy wanted to depress me.
The enemy wanted to discourage me.
The enemy wanted to drown me in my sorrows.

But the Spirit of the Lord lifted up a Standard against Him.
Instead of poisoning my thoughts with toxic material to cause sickness and death, the Spirit of the Lord gave me Joy and Hope and became a help in my time of need.

I do not know what thoughts the enemy has been putting into your head lately.
I do know how they seem to come in like a Flood.
and I do know the need to replace those thoughts through the renewing of our minds.

What scripture has God been encouraging your thought life with?
Share it and maybe others can be encouraged as they stand neck deep in the enemies flood and maybe today someone might be renewed by your testimony.

Have an awesome day, I know I am.

  1. I have a shelter in the storm
    When troubles pour upon me
Though fears are rising like a flood
    My soul can rest securely
O Jesus, I will hide in You
My place of peace and solace
No trial is deeper than Your love
    That comforts all my sorrows!!!!

    I LOVE MY LIFE!!! -Khayla

  2. What was great was the men who came down and emptied the offices, and set my computer up (thanks Rick)so I can work tomorrow! If I can find anything, ha ha. Luke Ness, Rick Lawrence, and Tim Clark did a great job, and Loren was such a big help calling men, and church sitting so we can start the drying process!

  3. A few weeks ago I felt the Lord give the scripture prepare us for a time when HE is calling us to "go to the other side!" Mark 4 35-41 For some of us we can feel a time of transition coming. God is calling some to go pave the way. Jesus knows all about my life, my gifts and my talents. He knows what he has planed for me. (for us) Some trials call us to get into the boat. The storms of life come and the waves beat from all direction. Sometimes it feels like the boat is filling and we are even going to go down. In our time of panic we often are wondering what and where Jesus is! We have to know that in the test, our strength in him is being built. Our trust in him is being bonded. Our peace needs to come from letting go of control. We need to remember "HE IS IN THE BOAT TOO!" If we fix our eyes on him and get our eyes off of the situation we will make it to the other side.
I need to always see things as God sees them, Remembering WHO I AM, WHAT I AM, and WHY I AM.
    I love my life!

  4. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD PSALM 46:10 very simple words but very powerful, I remind myself a lot to slow down and listen, and to know that God is control, these words comfort me in knowing he is bigger and greater then any situation or circumstance thats going on in my life or others. SJ

  5. Psalm 136 - All of it. Pastor Andy, you directed me to this passage a week or so ago and I've been fixed on it ever since. It reminds me over and over (literally) that "His mercy endureth forever"

  6. Building 429's song Where I Belong really got me going this morning...

  7. Everything I read has a positive effect on my life at that moment. I feel God blessing me and filling my life more and more each day. I feel so blessed knowing that He is on my side and knowing that He is in control. Takes so much pressure off of me. =)

  8. The past few weeks I have heard people say things about me that arent true! Even though I know they arent true, it still hurts. Just when I feel like Im finally ME again and that God has restored my confidence and self esteem. The enemy has been flooding my thoughts with confusion. Trying to make me believe that maybe I am TOO this or TOO that. Every day for two weeks I have been battling the thoughts. And everyday I hear God say, What do I think of you? I know he LOVES me unconditionally, I know that he values me. But I still havnt been able to get the voices of what others have said about me out of my head cause they dont make any sence. Today while reading my bible there were two verses in John that have really helped me! John 15:20 "IF the world hates you, you know that it hated ME before it hated you. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefor the world hates you." This helped me in many ways, others dont have to have a reason to talk bad about you or not like you after all they hated Jesus without cause. But the best part of this is that I am chosen...JESUS CHOSE ME!!! John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, MY peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." My heart has been troubled and my mind has been confused but we can learn to rest in the promises of God. He will reveal His plan in His time!
